Original Music for the 150 Psalms

PUT NOT YOUR TRUST IN MONEY (PSALM 49) (CCLI 4431055)

Listen, all, to what I say.
I fear not the evil days.
Worldly power and worldly wealth
soon pass away. (*note below)

1. Put not your trust in money.
Wealth can't bring release from the grave.
Life is not bought by riches.
Know that only our God can save.

Listen. Listen. Listen, people!
Listen. Listen. Listen, people!

2. Be not in awe of power.
Wise, the foolish: all pass away!
Wealth is but passed to others,
as, in tombs, our bodies decay!

Listen. Listen. Listen, people!
Listen. Listen. Listen, people!

3. Those without understanding,
like the beast, pass into the night.
Hear now my words and listen:
Trust in God: let God be your light!

*The introductory melody of Psalm 49 was recently adapted for use with Advice and Query #9 by a Quaker retreat in Gembrook, Australia. A great idea and wonderful extension of the music at this site. I encourage others to do the same if the music be useful.
